Martin Odegaard is in the final stretch of his recovery after having suffered a fracture in the metatarsus of the foot, however he exercises with a curious system

The young Real Madrid midfielder Martin Ødegaard was the protagonist of a revolutionary training method. The player is doing the preseason with the team in the United States, despite having suffered a fracture in the metatarsus of the foot in April , when he played in the Heerenveen in the Netherlands.

The 19-year-old football player posted a video on social networks where he could be seen training, in a closed space, with virtual reality glasses and a video game joystick in his hand.

“Fun but hard work without physical burden Thank you ‘Be your Best’ for helping me to train vision and decision making during my injury period,” said the Norwegian on his Instagram account.

This system is designed to “build a competitive advantage through cognitive and mental performance,” said the creators, including Geir Jordet, former footballer and professor of sports psychology at the Noeruega School of Sports Sciences.

The idea is that, when putting on the glasses, the player is immersed in a virtual reality world located inside a soccer field . There, the protagonist must look for spaces and assist his companions in the best way.

The video also showed a computer, which reflected the movements made by Odegaard . With that accessory, the player began to train, despite being recovering from an operation.

Now, Real Madrid must decide what to do with the young European promise, which played a single game with the white team in the 2014-2015 season, becoming the youngest player to debut with the merengue shirt, with 16 years.

“The important thing is that I go to a team where I can play, a transfer to another Spanish team is a good alternative , but right now I do not know much,” the Norwegian said in an interview with local agency NTB.
